How We Work
Incubators are designed to empower charitable entrepreneurs like you by enabling your projects, even if you don’t have a registered charity of your own. We focus on helping individuals create and sustain impactful registered charities, offering the support and structure needed to bring your vision to life.
What is a Charity Incubator?
Think of a charity incubator like a rental car. Imagine you want to go on a road trip, but you don’t have a car, can’t borrow one, and buying one is too expensive. Instead, you rent a car. You’re a qualified driver, so you head to the dealership, review the guidelines, sign the rental agreement, and start your journey.
In the realm of charitable work, many people are making a difference in their communities but lack the “vehicle”—a registered charity—to fully realize their efforts. They may not have the resources to register a charitable organization with the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) or the infrastructure to manage one. This is where a charity incubator comes in.
A charity incubator is a registered charity with its own purposes that define its activities and programs. This charity already has the legal framework to carry out these activities, accept donations, and issue tax receipts. However, the incubator needs “drivers”—people like you—to implement these programs.
